EXPLORING A CINEMATIC NARRATIVE OF LIBERATION
Dimuthu Sahabandu’s collection was the strongest of all in terms of increasing interpretive dimensions as it progressed on the ramp. While the craftsmanship was exquisite, the details behind every seam were mesmerizing. However, what caught our attention most was its captivating cinematic narrative. Inspired by Joan of Arc, the martyr, saint and military leader who led the French army to victory during the Lancastrian period, Dimuthu’s collection was also layered in an alternative reading of the woman of today. The models who adorned the designer wear were dramatic in posture and facial expression, denoting a mixture of vulnerability and confidence, epitomizing femininity with charisma and pride.
