An Art Talk & Art Showcase for students on Sri Lankan women artists who practiced in the early to mid 1900s in Sri Lanka including Nalini Jayasuriya and Swanee Jayawardene, featured artists of ARTRA Magazine ‘Women & Modernism’ Edition Volume 1 (2025). This talk will be an interactive session where students will be given an understanding on the history of Sri Lankan Modern Art while shedding light to important artists who have shaped the artistic landscape locally & internationally.
A part of ARTRA’s initiative to educate students on Modern & Contemporary Art.

Launch of ARTRA Magazine’s Women & Modernism Edition
An evening of art, conversation and showcase in celebration of the launch of ARTRA Magazine’s Women & Modernism Edition 69 Volume I (2025). Featuring over 65 selected works of art by Swanee Jayawardene and Nalini Jayasuriya from private and public collections, this edition of ARTRA Magazine explores Sri Lankan women artists who practiced in the early to mid 1900s in Sri Lanka. At the launch, a conversation based on featured articles on the magazine based on feminist art epistemology and feminist imprints exploring the influences of Modern women artists upon Contemporary women artists will take place amidst Nalini Jayasuriya’s works of art, accolades and literary material belonging to S. Thomas’ College.
