Photography is a potent ornamentation of communication and a unique form of artistic expression. The lens of the camera allows the photographer to reflect and produce a narrative of any subject matter a distinct and sublime perspective. Adding diversity to the field of photography, Canon presents the third edition of Canon PhotoMarathon which will take place on the 21st of October of which ARTRA is proud to be an Official Partner. Aimed at recognizing photography of meticulous detailing, the challenge is to create photographic masterpieces in line with the assigned theme while working under the pressure of time.

Taslim Rahaman, Managing Director of Metropolitan Photohub interprets Canon PhotoMarathon as a creative source that envisions a reconceptualization of the city of Colombo. “The idea of a marathon encapsulates the element of surprise where the themes for the competition are not revealed until the day of the event. Moreover, participants are given a specific timeframe and finally from the range of photographs, they are allowed to submit only one for each theme which they believe to be felicitous in presenting their interpretation of it.” The participants can use any camera for the competition and it is a matter of utilizing the camera and equipment to capture an intriguing work of art.
